Milwaukee, WI — November 11, 2014 — Stefanik Software today released Bus MKE for iPhone, an app for Milwaukee bus riders. Bus MKE takes advantage of the new real-time data feed from the Milwaukee County Transit System to show riders exactly when the next bus is arriving. This is determined by using GPS tracking devices that were installed on MCTS buses earlier this year. The app also uses location detection to automatically show the nearest stop for the selected route.
While MCTS currently provides the same information on their website, Bus MKE is faster, and easier to use. The app has a clear, bold visual design, inspired by New York City subway signage.
Here’s how to use it.
First, select a route:
A list of all the stops on that route are shown. Using location detection, you will automatically be shown the nearest stop with the time until the next bus. The direction of travel is shown in the bottom left. Tap it to toggle the other direction.
Select a stop to see details of the approaching buses.
Bus MKE is free to download and try, but requires a small $1.99 fee (less than a bus fare!) to access both directions for each route. Bus MKE requires iOS 7.1 or newer.
This is not the first app Stefanik Software has made for Milwaukee. The Milwaukee Gas Light app was released last year. It’s a simple weather app that replicates the color coded forecast atop of the historic Gas Light building downtown. Learn more at whentheflameisblue.com
